  • Broad range of CNG models (Volkswagen Group brands: VW, Audi, SEAT and ŠKODA) meet diverse customer needs
  • Porsche Holding Salzburg and OMV cooperative venture: refuel free of charge for one year when you buy a CNG vehicle
  • OMV will invest up to 10 million euros in upgrades and demand-driven expansion of the network
  • Available, environment-friendly mobility

Salzburg, 3 June 2019 - At a press conference at OMV headquarters, Dr Hans Peter Schützinger, CEO of the PHS Management Board, and Dr Rainer Seele, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of OMV, discussed the role of gas in the future of energy and the importance of CNG (compressed natural gas) in mobility.

According to the IEA World Energy Outlook 2018 New Policy Scenario, significant growth is forecast in the global gas market. In the period to 2040, demand for gas is expected to increase by 43%, i.e. considerably faster than overall energy consumption. In the Asia-Pacific region, demand for gas could more than double. As a substitute for coal and nuclear energy, gas can make an important contribution to global climate protection and security of supply.

The use of gas in passenger transport can also add up to significant savings. Up to 23% less CO2, 75% less nitrogen oxide and 98% less particulate matter - these are all powerful arguments in favour of CNG vehicles and the environment. A broad network of 160 CNG filling stations in Austria (54 of which are OMV), short refuelling times, fuel cost savings of up to 50% and a broad range of models make buying a CNG vehicle even more attractive. Moreover, OMV will invest up to 10 million euros in the CNG network. Existing fuel dispensers will be upgraded and the network will be expanded on a demand-driven basis.

The Volkswagen Group offers a diverse range of CNG models (Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Audi, SEAT and ŠKODA). From small to large, from inexpensive to extravagant, the Volkswagen Group offers vehicles to suit every taste.
