Porsche Holding Salzburg opens extended company kindergarten after construction period of about one year

October 29, 2024

  • Third expansion phase with new CO2-neutral wing has been completed
  • Up to 96 places for children aged one to six are now available
  • One of the largest company childcare facilities in the city of Salzburg
  • Grand opening in the presence of high-ranking political representatives

Smiling children, delighted parents, content educators. This was the scene on Tuesday, 29 October 2024, at the official opening of the third expansion phase of the Porsche Holding Salzburg company kindergarten. The company facility, successfully operated since 2019, already provides valuable support to many Porsche Holding Salzburg employees. The expansion has created 32 additional places for children of employees, promoting an even more family-friendly working environment.

After one year of construction, the third expansion phase of the Porsche Holding Salzburg company kindergarten has now been put into operation with a newly built kindergarten wing that can accommodate two additional mixed-age groups with up to 32 children. To meet the increasing demand for childcare, temporary facilities were installed in the forecourt of the Porschehof during the construction period. One group of children between the ages of two and six was looked after in this accommodation for a year.

Childcare at the highest level

There are currently 90 places available at Porsche Holding Salzburg’s company kindergarten. The children between one and six are looked after by the partner “Spielzeugschachtel GmbH”. The capacity of the newly opened expansion phase accommodates up to 96 children. The newly constructed kindergarten wing alone, with an interior space of 300 m², accommodates two additional mixed-age groups with up to 32 children. The extension also includes an activity room, a cloakroom, a staff room and a sanitary room. The barrier-free building was built using timber frame construction and is CO2-neutral.

Since the completion of the expansion, the four toddler groups and four mixed-age groups now have access to approximately 900 m² of total indoor play area and more than 1,100 m² of outdoor play area. This gives the children plenty of space to burn off energy on the play equipment and run around.

Sustainable commitment to balancing work and family life

The expansion of the company kindergarten was necessary, as the demand for childcare is constantly increasing. “A comprehensive childcare programme not only enables our employees to return from parental leave earlier, but also ensures that they can continue their careers within our company seamlessly. With the expansion of our company kindergarten, we are making a targeted investment in the compatibility of work and family life and increasing our attractiveness as an employer for the coming years”, says Dr Hans Peter Schützinger, CEO of the Porsche Holding Salzburg Management Board.

The advantages of the company kindergarten for children and parents are therefore obvious: there are no additional commutes, and less time is required to drop off or pick up the children from childcare. It is also easier for parents to concentrate on work if they know their children are well looked after.

Extended opening hours: open all year round from 07:00 to 19:00

To ensure that the company kindergarten is particularly parent- and child-friendly while also meeting the requirements of the job, it operates with extended opening hours. All year round, the children are looked after from 07:00 to 19:00 by a total of 27 educators and skilled workers. The team at the Porsche Holding company kindergarten ensures that every child is supported in a loving and creative environment.

There are no closing days, not even during school holidays. The company canteen provides full catering for the children, including breakfast, snack, lunch and an afternoon snack. All group rooms are equipped with kitchens, so that the children can even join in the cooking.
