2011 marks the beginning of a new era for our company. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, we continue our course for international growth on the way to becoming one of the world’s largest and most successful European automotive distributors. Growth & internationalisation
1971 to 2010
Porsche Holding Salzburg is founded in 1974 following the withdrawal of all family members from operational roles. The company makes some important structural decisions under the new umbrella and makes far-sighted use of the unprecedented opportunity for large-scale internationalisation in the early 1990s.
Louise Piëch & Ferry Porsche
1945 to 1970
After the Second World War, Ferdinand Porsche’s children Louise Piëch and Ferry Porsche help drive the new company forward. Louise Piëch lays the foundation for the company’s rapid development in Salzburg by importing Volkswagen vehicles, while Ferry Porsche establishes the Porsche AG of today in Stuttgart.
Ferdinand Porsche
1875 to 1945
Our company’s history begins with Ferdinand Porsche: the ingenious designer invents the electric wheel-hub motor, develops successful racing cars and creates a legend: the Volkswagen.
